Provisional passport or route letter

The issuance of a provisional passport or route letter is issued by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in exceptional cases to all Dominican citizens who do not have a valid passport and need to travel to the Dominican Republic. This document is issued for a validity of 30 days only and exclusively to return to the Dominican Republic. In order to be able to return to the country where the provisional passport was granted, the Dominican citizen must obtain the passport in Dominican territory.

 

Every Dominican citizen has the right to request a provisional passport or route letter from the consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Submit to the Dominican consular office that corresponds to the following documentation and requirements:

 

  1. Document that identifies you as Dominican (expired passport, Dominican identity card, birth certificate issued as of the year 2012, Dominican driver's license, others).

  2. If the passport has lost it, a report to a police station.

  3. Recent photograph, size 4 x 5 centimeters, color photo with white background, without shadow, front, without earrings (earrings), without piercing, without chain, without smile, without gesture, with hair behind, with ears and forehead discovered taken close up.

 

OBSERVATIONS

 

 

  1. This document must be managed directly by the interested party unless there is a justified reason for another person to request it.

  2. If the passport is for a minor, it must be managed by one of its parents or legal representative.

  3. The amount to be paid is in US dollars (USD).

  4. In this section only the most frequent services are mentioned. Any other type of service associated with a passport will be addressed according to the nature of the request.

  5. For any service, consular offices are authorized to include additional requirements to those indicated in this document.

  6. The consular offices have the right to refuse to manage a service, if the consular staff doubts the utility for the citizen; if you think that such service may injure the Applicant's future interests; or if you question the public FAITH of the Consular Office.

NOTE: ALL PASSPORT RENEWAL PROCESSES CAN BE PERFORMED PERSONALLY AND ALSO VIA CORRESPONDENCE BY SENDING ALL THE DOCUMENTATION AND A PREPAID ENVELOPE (Canada post, purolator, Fedex, etc).
