Rectifications and modifications in the passport book 

DESCRIPTION

 

The passport is the official document issued by the Dominican Republic to its citizens with the main purpose that they can travel abroad and move from one country to another. The passport book of the Dominican Republic is biometric and is issued for six (6) years.

 

When it is determined that there are omissions and / or erroneous information in the Passport Book, except for the "ñ", the citizen must proceed to change the Passport Book for a new one where the errors argued and confirmed in the previous Book are corrected. .

 

All Dominican citizens have the right to request a new passport from the consular offices of the Dominican Republic when there are errors, omissions and / or modifications in the Passport Book data.

REQUIREMENTS

 

Depending on the type of correction or modification in question, the holder of the passport must submit the following documentation and requirements to the consular offices:

  1. If it is a correction of the Ñ, you only have to present the Birth Certificate and the correction will be made in the same notebook and without cost.

  2. If it is another type of correction other than the "ñ" the citizen must process a new passport booklet and present the evidence supporting the change, for example:

  1. Birth certificate issued as of the year 2012, if the problem is related to the first and last names, place or date of birth.

  2. Marriage certificate, if the request refers to placing the married name.

  3. Divorce certificate, if the request refers to eliminating the married name.

  4. Death certificate and marriage, if the request refers to eliminating the surname of married by death of the spouse.

  5. Dominican Identity and Electoral Card, if you want to modify or place the number of the card in the passport book.

  6. Recent photograph, size 4 x 5 centimeters, color photo with white background, without shadow, front, without earrings (earrings), without piercing, without chain, without smile, without gesture, with hair behind, with ears and forehead discovered and taken closely.

Minors: All minors must be present at the consular office accompanied by their father, mother or guardian at the time of submitting the passport application

OBSERVATIONS

 

  1. If the passport is for a minor, it must be managed by one of its parents or legal representative.

  2. The amount to be paid is in US dollars (USD).

  3. For any service, consular offices are authorized to include additional requirements to those indicated in this document.

  4. The consular offices have the right to refuse to manage a service, if the consular staff doubts the utility for the citizen; if you think that such service may injure the Applicant's future interests; or if you question the public FAITH of the Consular Office.

 

 

NOTE: ALL PASSPORT RENEWAL PROCESSES CAN BE PERFORMED PERSONALLY AND ALSO VIA CORRESPONDENCE BY SENDING ALL THE DOCUMENTATION AND A PREPAID ENVELOPE (Canada post, purolator, Fedex, etc).
